Gene Van Eeckhout

Gene Van Eeckhout has served as southeast district supervisor with the Fisheries Division of the North Dakota Game & Fish Department since 1976 and lives in Jamestown, ND. Gene is a graduate of the University Of North Dakota and possesses a bachelor’s degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management and a master’s degree in biology with a fisheries emphasis. Gene is well known and truly respected for his ongoing efforts to improve fishing in the southeastern portion of North Dakota.
Gene is recognized for his unselfish dedication to improving fisheries and for assisting individual fishing and wildlife clubs in his district. He possesses extensive knowledge and experience in his field and willingly shares that knowledge and experience to teach others and assist in improving the fishing experience for the public. Gene is well respected for his ability to communicate with landowners, sportsmen, and others with concerns pertaining to area lakes. He is known for the extra efforts he takes to listen to concerns, share information, and do what is required to improve the fisheries in his district.
Gene always demonstrates professionalism and leadership and his nomination was supported by numerous wildlife and fishing clubs located in southeast North Dakota.
Gene Van Eeckhout’s efforts have truly improved the fishing and outdoor experience for those who visit the lakes and rivers in southeast North Dakota and will have a lasting impact on these fisheries.
