                                                            TONY DEAN
                                                             Inducted 1990

Tony Dean, who was a Mandan native, always had a love of the outdoors and in particular, fishing.  Opting to turn his hobby into a vocation, Dean began a fishing guide service in the 1970’s and expanded it to include seminars and outdoor writing.  In the 1980’s, he began a small radio fishing show.  From humble beginnings, it grew rapidly, and he branched out into television production of fishing and outdoor programming.  The show “Tony Dean Outdoors” grew into one of the most popular national outdoor programs on television.  Many of Dean’s shows portray the excellent fishing opportunities in North Dakota.
Not only does Dean educate anglers in ways that enhance their fishing experience, he also educated anglers in the ethics and conservation practices in order to ensure that future generations would enjoy great fishing experiences.
